Houston HOA Board of Directors Transition

Is your Houston HOA holding an election to vote in new board members in the near future?  Have you discussed ways to make sure a transfer of information takes place?  Getting a fresh set of eyes and ears on your Houston HOA board can be a good thing every couple of years.  While continuity is helpful to a community, new board members can also be a good thing, if there is a smooth transition.  Its tough on a community and on a new board member if they are thrown into their Houston homeowners association board of directors without any guidance.  Your Houston HOA management company can certainly help with the transition as can the exiting board member(s).

When there is a change in the board, its a good idea to ask the departing board member for all association records and information they may have.  This should be given to a member of the board or the Houston HOA management company that manages your Houston neighborhood.

Another idea to consider is asking any new board members in your Houston HOA to attend an orientation or training meeting.  Ask your Houston HOA management company if they teach any classes that would benefit your new board members.  At Spectrum Association Management we provide a series of classes for new and existing board members.  Our training program through THE BOARDLINE INSTITUTE provides fun, interesting, and informative training that covers financial statements, board member liability, laws and statutes, enforcement of the rules, etc.  We believe an informed board member is a good board member.  Our classes are held in person and online.  If your board of directors would like to attend one of our webinars or would like for us to put together a class specific for your Houston board of directors we would be delighted to do so.
