How to Keep San Antonio Neighborhoods Nice: Have a Proactive, Positive HOA

Thursday, November 4, 2010 By: HOA Admin

Most people want to keep their home looking nice.  Most people want their neighborhood to stay looking nice.  Most people want to live around others that maintain their property.  If you talk with most people they appreciate the things their HOA does.  Most people want to have a positive experience with their HOA.  This depends largely on the Board of Directors and the HOA Management company you use in San Antonio.

How do you keep your neighborhood looking nice, while still being nice?  It is simple.  Work with people.  Your San Antonio HOA need to enforce the rules, but can do it in a nice, neighborly way.  How?

1.  Be understanding.

When someone calls in asking for help because of an extenuating circumstance, be empathetic.  Work with the person to get the situation resolved.  The matter might not be resolved in a week, but most situations can get resolved if everyone in the HOA works together.   Encourage your HOA management company to work with your homeowners.  At Spectrum, our core customer is the homeowner.  We want to make it an enjoyable experience to live in an HOA we manage.

2.  Communicate

Remind, in a kind way, everyone what the rules are and why they are in place.  It is much easier to ask people to follow you in complying with the rules if they understand what the Spirit of the rule is and why it is in place.  Neighborhoods develop a “personality”.  Make sure your HOA is one that has a positive, well groomed “personality”.
